ISSUE 10: The community needs an ice pad

Unfortunately, building one- or two-pad facilities is just not economically sound. Also, few people lug their equipment to the rink any more. They drive! By combining four rinks in one spot, we save taxpayer’s money by having only one ice plant and fewer staff. A larger facility is also more valid for hockey tournaments.

  • By building the facility in another area, tournament buses and spectators will not be infiltrating our neighbourhood each weekend. The proposed arena will be east of Markham Road, South of where Home Depot is now. It will be a full facility with state of the art amenities, and plenty of parking in the Costco parking lot that is being built nearby.
