Overnight Parking The Town has a ban on overnight parking except in special areas that have Overnight Permits. That creates difficulties for people who have special occasional circumstances such as construction or paving of the driveway, or overnight guests, or perhaps a party whose guests have had a wee bit too much to drink.
There is a solution.
Markham does allow up to 12 parking exemptions annually. The number to call to arrange for an exemption is 905-477-7000, x2050. They will require your name, address, postal code, home phone number, the plate numbers of the cars which will be on the road overnight, the length of the requested exemption and the reason for the exemption. You need to do this before you get a ticket!
Parking Tickets As a Town Councillor I'm not permitted to 'fix' tickets. However, if you've received a ticket that you feel is unjustified, there is a remedy other than fighting it in court.
You (or your agent) may bring your parking ticket into our First Attendance office at 101 Town Centre Blvd. between the hours of 12 noon and 4.15 p.m. Monday through Friday to discuss the ticket. They cannot discuss anything over the phone. If you are coming to the Civic Centre, please enter through the Thornhill doors and take a number from the machine on the wall outside the First Attendance office.
The officer on duty will do all he can to satisfy your needs, and so far I've found him to be very fair.
This web site provides a forum where I can bring you up to date on issues and events at the Town of Markham that affect the quality of living in our Ward.
