Lights Left on in the Parks

There has been an on-going problem with the lighting being left on at our Sports Fields. We have a system to stop this waste of electricity and light pollution, but I need your help.

The control for the lights are supposed to be locked, and the only people
with a key should be those who are holding a permit for the field.  The
permit holder is to shut the lights off when they are finished.  Some fields
are also on a timer that will shut them off at 11:00 pm even if the game is
still going.

Apparently there are some permit holders that are lax, and some of the keys have not been turned in, which leaves them in the hands of the public.

We have given instructions to the staff to make sure that:

• all lock boxes are in working order,
• only those who should have access, have keys,
• the timers are working, and
• the permit holders will be held accountable.

This may take a week or two to be fully implemented, but after that, please
let me know if the lights are left on so I can take it up with the permit
